Beethoven used to go to see him. But WHERE ? Had Rudolph his own residence or did he live in Hofburg? Does anybody here the answer?

Well, he and this forum.

Although I was born in Germany, I have never been to the Maestro's birthplace, nor have I ever been to Vienna, and now I want that very badly - while I still have all my faculties.

Every post I read here, every word I read about him in books or online and every time I hear his music, I get "Gänsehaut", and I feel like I must go!

I plan a visit to friends and family in early December for pre-Christmas and for the Christmas Markets, so I do not know if I can squeeze in a trip to Bonn, since I will be in Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Bavaria), but if not then, my next opportunity will be April of 2009.

In the meantime, I plan to continue to immerse myself in his life and and keeping with that, I want to buy his "Conversation Books".

I must be where he was.

Is anyone here from Prague? I'd appreciate help in terms of suitable hotels, and finding out if some of the hotels Beethven stayed at are still operating under different names.

Thing is, I am tempted at the thought of a weekend break to Bonn – solely to visit the Beethoven haus - and any other Beethoven sites of interest in Bonn that anyone can point me towards!

I visited the Heiligenstadt Haus in Vienna in April, and, althought it was nice to have been there, I thought it was a little bit disappointing in terms of the items and information on display

I can get a cheap return flight to Bonn from where I live, but would need to be sure beforehand that it is worth visiting?

Anyone advise, please?
