Anyway, here's the idea : you have to choose one work by Beethoven that you would choose if you were to be marooned on a desert island for years to come. Remember, only
one work.
I'll start : Well, it's got to be something "big", something that will stand up to repeated listening over the years. I was going to say string quartet Op 132, but that was last week. Nah, today I'll say : the Diabelli Variations. Plenty of material, textures, pace, mood and so on. Yeah, that should do me. When I get bored of that I'll throw myself into the sea and catch me a shark to eat.
